Flagship Areas of Work

High burden, high impact cross-cutting areas in focus to achieve better health outcomes
I prioritize seven interventions under three cross-cutting flagship areas.

These address major health burden in the Region and offer the greatest health gains with accelerated actions.

People at the center for noncomunicable diseases and mental health, prevention and continuum-of-care

Closing the gap on communicable diseases and immunization with bold actions

Effective interventions on environmental determinants and climate change through an equity lens

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) & mental health

People at the center for noncommunicable diseases and mental health prevention and continuum-of-care

Focusing on three priority areas in NCDs and mental health will move Europe closer to achieving its goals of reducing disease and premature deaths.

  1. Increasing healthy life expectancy, tackling behavioral risk factors across sectors

  2. Making health systems fit for cancer and diabetes

  3. Closing the mental health gap while maintaining dignity

Communicable diseases & immunization

Closing the gap on communicable diseases and immunization with bold actions

Focusing on two priority areas will move Europe closer to achieving its goals of eliminating major communicable diseases by 2030.

  1. Targeting and tailoring action to end the TB and HIV epidemic

  2. Eliminating measles and rubella through equitable access to immunization

Environmental determinants &

climate change

Effective interventions on environmental determinants through an equity lens

Focusing on two priority areas will move Europe closer to achieving its goals of reducing deaths and diseases from polluted environments.

  1. Putting health high in climate change agenda and greening health systems

  2. Underpinning evidence-based policy actions on air pollution
